Coluracetam is a nootropic belonging to the racetam family. Racetams are a class of compounds that have the same chemical backbone (a pyrrolidone nucleus). Although their exact mechanism of action remains unknown, some racetams appear to modulate neurotransmitters.
Coluracetam was originally developed in 2005 as a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. Later on, it was in phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of anxiety and depression. Sin embargo, clinical research was discontinued after it failed to give conclusive results in both trials.
